SmartCharge New York and inbound sales interest
Utility sales opportunities, both large and small, continue to present themselves and their time to close is shortening!
Many electric utilities, large and small, are actively looking for a solution to reduce the impact EV charging is having on the grid. Due to the pace of EV adoption, the sales cycles for utilities both large and small are shrinking.
One example of a large utility moving quickly is Consolidated Edison and Orange & Rockland. They are looking for vendors to help them expand their “SmartCharge New York“ EV incentive program, utilizing “Telematics Managed Charging” which is what FlexCharging provides. Their turnaround time and scaling objectives are aggressive.
October 12th - The RFP was released to approved vendors, including FlexCharging.
October 31st - The Proposals were due. We are pleased with our submission.
November - Follow-up questions and meetings.
November - Agreement signing.
December - Work begins.
January 1st, 2023 - Transition 8,600 vehicles to the new vendor, potentially FlexCharging, and begin expanding the program.
Year End 2025 - The program is scheduled to expand to include 270,000 EVs.
We have submitted our proposal and are expecting to receive questions any day.

Medium and small utilities: In addition to going after large utilities through RFPs we are having success selling to medium and small utilities with help coming from conference participation and joining trade organizations.
GridFWD - Brian was invited to pitch at GridFWD 2022, a conference FlexCharging regularly attends and sponsors. Mark, our newest board member, and lead investor, took this opportunity to announce Accurant’s investment in FlexCharging and congratulated Brian on stage.
NRECA - We have also joined The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association to better connect and align our solution to support Electric Co-ops. There are thousands of electric utility co-ops, and because they are not competitive with one another they share their challenges and tools that succeed in overcoming them with one another.
GridFWD and NRECA have generated a number of inbound customer contacts. Our focus now is on delivering value for our new co-op customer and growing that pipeline through direct participation in NRECA.
